holler

it was a beautiful night in lafayette, louisiana. the weather was perfect for windows down driving, and i was in the mood to jam to some really loud and happy music.

naturally, it was from enchanted. "that's how you know" was turned all the way up on my already busted speakers. i was jamming--my hands were in the air and my hair was blowing in the wind.

i approach a stop light, and i still continue to sing at the top of my lungs. the music dies, and i notice the people in the truck to the left of me are staring. the girl sitting in the middle seat says,"damn, guh. you jammin, yeah."

"haha. hmm. yeah, yeah, i am"

the guy in the passenger seat then asks me to sing for him.

"oh, no. no, i'm okay. i'm not gonna do that"

they then proceed to tell me that they have better jams. they turn up their volume and blare rap music. typical lafayette.

"ooh, cool. yeah. sweet jams." (insert thumbs up here).

the guy in the passenger seat says, "say, guh. you gotta boyfriend?"

"a boyfriend? oh, no"

"what's your number, guh?"

"my number? haha hmm. oh, the light just turned green"

"my number is _____. call me sometime"

"thank you!"

i feel like this is a better story to tell in person. i just want to read this in 20 years and remember that i was once hot for a day.

right on, man

i do love the good sound of a high five. it's always a satisfying victory when you make it just right and your hand tingles a bit from it.

i, however, am more partial to a thumbs up. there's a lot less opportunity for rejection. i don't like rejection. it's really uncomfortable to put yourself and your hand out there and receive nothing in return. then you say, "hey, man, don't leave me hanging," and there you hang. it's terrible. now you have to play it off like you never really wanted that high five in the first place. so, what are you to do? take your other hand and give yourself a high five? go
into the "raise the roof" motion? slowly but surely bring your hand back down by your side and pretend nothing ever happened?

none of these options work for me. i'm not cool enough to play it off. i'll just stick with my thumbs up to show my approval for something. there's never a set up for rejection, and, if you're lucky, you just may hail a taxi at the same time.

lemme brag about myself for a minute, will ya?

this has been a lovely week for me academically.
i found out monday that i have a B in math. i told myself if i had a B or higher, then i would not take the final.

holler.

i also got a test back in math, and i got a 99 on it. monday was my last math class. ever. in my life. unless i change my major, but i just don't see that happening.

i got an  A on my reseach paper for nursing, but that really wasn't all that hard.

on thursday, i got my research paper back in english. i was incredibly nervous about it, because i used a thesis statement she said not to use, i hated the topic (analyzing death of a salesman), and i didn't really start it until the night before. i got an A- on it. i was seriously expecting a C if she wanted to be nice. i was so happy about that

right after that, i had a psychology test. i made friends with a guy in my class who informed me he cheated off me on the last test, and i was the only reason he did well. i told him he was more than welcome to on this test. i then felt really bad when i realized how hard the test was.

my teacher posted the grade for that test later that day. i made a 94. also the highest grade in the class. and i'm not taking that final either.

all week, i was freaking out about biology. my teacher put up our overall grades so far. i had a 90. that surprised me in itself. i thought for sure i had a solid B. so, i was pretty excited when i found out i had an A in that class. well, i had a test on friday. i really wanted to pull an A, so i wouldn't have to take the final in that either (i know, my school doesn't really believe in finals, apparently). so, all week, i just lived in the library studying my biology. i stayed up til 3 the night before the test and woke up at 6 to continue studying. after i took it, i was nervous. i've been cursed with the 88s this semester. and i knew i needed nothing lower than an A to pull an A in the class. i knew i did well on the test, but i didn't think i did A-well. so, i checked my grade this morning. 98. holy shit.

i rock.

so, i'm only taking two finals. and that's only because i have to take those. there was never any way i could get out of them. ha. and they really shouldn't be too bad. so, needless to say, i'm pumped

and wednesday i get to meet all the people i'll be spending the next year with! i can't waaaiiit! and i got some poppin new shoes to wear to the event.

so, i realize this and my past few posts have been boring. whatever. i think i only posted this one was so when i decide to go read my blog in ten years, i can see how boring my life is, because i was this excited about good grades.

anywho. the hallway smells like shit. the toilet's broken. and the maintenance men have been working on it all night.

pockets full of water bottles

i think you're a shitty friend...

but! i just attended my last math class today just to turn in the paper that said i will not be taking the final.
and! i just found out i have an A in biology. if i make an A on this next test, i'm not taking the final in that either.

so, i just have to focus on school right now. just school. biology mostly. lots and lots of biology. i can't let anyone get to me for a while.

bye!
