right on, man

i do love the good sound of a high five. it's always a satisfying victory when you make it just right and your hand tingles a bit from it.

i, however, am more partial to a thumbs up. there's a lot less opportunity for rejection. i don't like rejection. it's really uncomfortable to put yourself and your hand out there and receive nothing in return. then you say, "hey, man, don't leave me hanging," and there you hang. it's terrible. now you have to play it off like you never really wanted that high five in the first place. so, what are you to do? take your other hand and give yourself a high five? go
into the "raise the roof" motion? slowly but surely bring your hand back down by your side and pretend nothing ever happened?

none of these options work for me. i'm not cool enough to play it off. i'll just stick with my thumbs up to show my approval for something. there's never a set up for rejection, and, if you're lucky, you just may hail a taxi at the same time.

Hayli. I smiled the entire time I read this. It made me realize how much I miss you. Love it.
